Kent was done checking the breaker box in the corner room. He needed to get back to what would be the server room for the office renovation his company was doing; he needed to finish up the power supply that all of the server equipment would need.
Over his months as a Time-Traveler, his little electrical business had seen something of a surge. When he first started shifting time and then started covering for Shay, he had hired a man, Nate Fosco, to cover the gaps. As things evolved, Tia had gotten involved to keep things going when Kent was unavailable.
(Tia had also connected with Humanity Housing to project manage around Shay’s distracted periods, as well.)
The night before, Tia had called Kent to say there were a lot of jobs queuing up for his company. She said she had run the numbers and taking on a second electrician would be profitable. Kent had agreed and she said she’d handle recruiting, but he’d have to do the interview.
Tia had been offered a permanent job in NYC and had taken it. In addition to all the Time-Travel support she was doing, Kent figured Eric’s friendship with her… growing daily… had something to do with it.
Kent had a big day ahead after his work in the office. He was moving. Faster than he had expected.
When he had mentioned that he might want to sell his house and move into the dorms at Tom’s apartments, Devon had said Shay had invited him to move into the 3rd floor, unused and private, of her house on Bank Street. Thus, Kent could move in with Merritt.
Kent had put his house on the market thinking the timing would be typical and he could get rid of old furniture and make the move before anyone wanted it.
Not so. He sat in his kitchen, signed the papers with the realtor, and watched him list it on the Internet. The realtor left and called 5 minutes later.
“You won’t believe this…”
Kent had a feeling he would.
“Some agency called Benevolence Worldwide just made an offer… 5% over list, but they want all the furniture and appliances…”
Sold.
