Tia Thomas had talked Eric Marsten into dinner at a nice restaurant in Manhattan. It had been a bit of a two-headed llama push-me-pull-me about the date but they compromised with going dutch.
Tia’s “it was my idea, I should pay” argument was countered by Erics “a proper gentleman pays for dates.” Had they not been laughing throughout the debate, it would have been their first argument.
After catching up on everything that had gone on over the last few days, Tia got to the reason she wanted to have dinner. “I got a call and took a meeting with the VP of Plant and Process.”
“Plant and Process?”
“Basically, everything related to the physical building and everything related to computers… medical records… bookkeeping… scheduling… HVAC controls… He offered me a permanent job. Project manager bouncing around everything in the building.”
“That sounds very interesting. What are you thinking? Is it something you’d like?”
Tia paused and thought about her years traveling from project to project. Then she thought about the friends she was making in NYC. Eric’s place on that list was far from insignificant.
“I think it is. I might be ready to settle down…”
“Been on the road a few years too much?” Eric asked.
Tia had talked to him about the lonely life of hopping from project to project for the last two years.
“Yeah… I guess one thing to consider…” Tia shrugged a little. “Do you think you’ll be in NY for a while? Is you being around a factor in my decision?”
Eric smiled. “Mr. Ryder is happy with my work, and it looks like Shay is putting down roots, at least for the next few years. Barring some time-travel I don’t expect… yeah… I’ll be around. And… I’m really happy I’m a factor in your decision.”
Tia smiled. “Me too.”
