I understand that I am just out of college. Will wants me to work through things gradually before actually designing anything. It’s a safe way to play a role in the bigger re-engineering process. But, I didn’t need all those engineering classes to count shelves.
Merritt and I talked about this. He said his 40 year jump hasn’t been a problem because feet and inches haven’t changed and we still use the same counting system. He and I are in equivalent positions; we gather data on existing conditions and give them to the actual engineers so they can start designs.
Will, however, did promise that we could team up on doing drawings for a cable chase in this warehouse. They are trying to automate some of the functions, and need to get data cables from the server room to pretty much everywhere. Will said the cable chase was well within our skill set and would be a safe design for us to work up.
Last thing… How can you manage a warehouse and not know how many square feet of shelving you have? Over the years, they’ve added different types of shelves, moved shelves, taken out shelves, so they have a hodgepodge of different types. But, still…
So, changing the subject to the picnic post… I’m really looking forward to the change. For one thing, taking on half of Emma’s rent to share a two bedroom with her will save me a ton of money compared to my loft. I’ve said before that Emma feels like a sister to me, so that’s great.
I probably need not mention that I’m happy to be closer to Merritt.
And being close enough to keep an eye on Addison also seems like a win. You know what they say…
I got some intel from Emma that Addison is “actin’ real nice to Devon.” And Merritt mentioned that she Snaps him daily. Yeah, that one… I’m going to keep an eye on her, for sure. And double up on my Snaps to Merritt!
