Devon pulled on some sweatpants and went to the common room to check on the four Time-Travelers whose duplicates had Translocated back to 1777. They were—all four of them—sitting around stuffing the Internet on laptops.
“What’s going on?” Devon asked.
Kent slowly looked up. “Sup…”
“What’re you guys doing?”
Kent nodded. “Emma said if we have some sort of connection to the Off-line group, we ought to just study 1777 stuff. Like we’re feeling some of their emotions…”
Hannah looked up. “We talked about what ‘save” could mean. Rescue… Religious term, but probably not that… Resuscitate… Possibly like saved from an attack… I’m reading up on 1777 medical stuff.”
Merritt then added. “I’m reading about castle architecture and stuff. How houses were built. Kent and Emma are reading about culture and history.”
Devon thought it was a great idea. “Look… After work, I’ll get Jacob, Liza… and probably Caleb… to come here. If the mission is still going on, we can bang through the looking up stuff and let you concentrate on reading them…”
Kent laughed. “I’m not sure ‘concentrate’ is the right word, but yeah…”
Devon had one more question. “So, are you feeling anything now? Like are they scared or… what?”
Merritt looked over. “I have this sort of cloudy bored and uncertain feeling…”
Kent nodded. “Same… Hannah was just saying she felt like they were just wandering around…”
