1777-June-28 “Three Days Max” for Kent* (born 1958)

Riders were coming down the horse path, so Hannah and Kent had retreated inside the shed. They had been standing outside when the riders came by earlier in the day.

Kent closed the door. “I think it’s the same group.”

Hannah nodded. Earlier, a young woman and man dressed in finery of the era rode past, side-by-side. Behind them rode 4 men with flintlock pistols at their sides, clearly their guards.

“They must like riding,” Hannah said as she moved to Kent’s side.

Kent looked at her. “You got a smudge of dirt on your chin…”

Hannah rolled her eyes. “It was on my hands before I had to scratch.”

Kent pulled out a handkerchief and wiped her chin. “I got to say that Tom certainly did his research on our costumes.”

Hannah smiled. “I say our next mission is someplace… not here… Like we go to the Florida Keys… say 1980… We have a big pontoon boat and we cruise around saving people from… maybe sunburn…”

Kent smiled. “Now you’re talking!”

After a pause he looked out the window toward the village. “Merritt and Emma should be back soon… Maybe they heard something… Or maybe Earl Greville is hosting some princess in Warwick Castle…”

“Who is Earl Greville?”

Kent looked at the castle. “The castle… George Greville, 2nd Earl of Warwick…”

Hannah rolled her eyes, smiled, and blinked. “Wow… which one of your duplicates knew that?”

Kent backed off a step. “Woo… I have no idea… This is… so strange…”

Hannah closed her eyes and moved close to her husband, leaning into an embrace. “Kent, it's all so… hard… My head is full of so many things… I’m starting to forget what’s mine and what’s the other Hannahs’”

Kent held her tight. “Yeah… but we’ll get through it if we stick together…”

Hannah squeezed him and sighed. “Only if we get out of here tomorrow… we’re running out of granola bars and iodine tablets to purify the water…”

Kent didn’t say anything, but he squeezed Hannah tightly.

After a moment she said, “I bet you're right about the earl hosting a princess… and I bet she rides horses…”
