I was surprised a few hours ago by an IG call asking me to meet for coffee. This one was from Andy Cole.
“Hey… Hannah? I’m in St. Louis on my way to Switzerland… Um… I just ran into a strange bloke… This is strange…”
I laughed a little. “I have a feeling it’s stranger to you than it will be to me.”
“Right, then… So, he gave me a letter…”
Well, long story short, we met for coffee. Andy has followed our time-traveler adventures from early on, and he understands what’s going on. But what happened in St. Louis was new to… everyone.
“So,” Andy said, “I had to change planes. I was on my way to the next gate and this bloke in a black suit shows up. ‘Andy, I have something for you to do.’ So I’m set back a bit. He says he wants me to give you this letter. I asked how he knew I was coming to New York. ‘Oh, I knew. And… here’s a little something for you.’ He handed me a $200 Pre-paid Visa.”
I shook my head. “Wow.”
Andy handed me the letter. “I told him I didn’t need the gift card. He said, ‘Well, you might cross paths with someone who does. Pay it forward.”
I looked down and shook my head. “Pay it forward… Yeah…”
“Funny thing… I got off the plane and there was this woman traveling with her 2 kids to a funeral. Poor woman was frantic. Lost her purse, it seems. Yeah… Well, $200 ought to get them through a little.”
“Amazing,” I said as I opened the letter.
Andy watched as I scanned it, then said, “Who’s it from? What was so important, if I may ask?”
“It’s hand initialed… P.C. and there’s a 4-leaf clover drawn by the initials… The letter basically says not to waste time looking for The Agency. It says we’ll find only mail boxes and empty offices.”
“Were you going to look for them?”
I laughed. “It’s been on our mind. We probably still will… who knows…”
