2024-12-10 “Checking In” by Emma (born 1861)

Today is one o’ the days I work the night show, so I thought I’d make a story just to check in. I got a lot to tell you, so I’ll just jump in.

First off, me and Merritt are happy like nothing before. He says it’s like something he always longed for but didn’t even know it. My ol’ granny would ‘ave said something about us being happy as pigs in mud.

All that to say we’re going real… well.

Secondly, now that I’m finding memories from the 2005 me and the 1965 me, I’m a whole lot smarter! Merritt says I was always smart, but now I’m more educated. That is because the other me’s had a lot more proper schooling.

Now, I’ll… eh hem… transition to something about Jacob. So, you might remember a while back he asked Will about a job with NYC SysCo doing support work for all their computers, iPhones and iPads. Well, yesterday, Will got a call from HR saying to hire him immediately.

There had been a hold on hiring, but yesterday one of the vice presidents needed new batteries for his mouse, so he put in a ticket and had to wait longer than he wanted. He called tech support and they said it would be a little longer because that guy had quit back a while ago. The vice president called HR right away and tol’ them to find somebody, an’ they tol’ him they had a guy already.

So Jacob has 2 jobs for 2 weeks, ‘cause he put in a proper 2-week notice at The Apple Store. He’s gonna be busy!

Last off, Devon said he had a real nice time at Shay’s on Friday. He said Caleb and Chloe were really nice and a lot of fun. I sort of was thinking maybe—since I broke things off with him—might take interest in Liza, but she seems set on Caleb, so maybe Devon will take up with Chloe. I think that would be real sweet.
