2024-11-21 “Swan Song” by Hannah (born 2002)

I wanted to check in tonight before calling it a day. It’s raining and around 47°F (8°C) right now. Sort of a bleak night, so I put this hoodie thing on over my jammies tonight while I was wrapping up things around the apartment.

I suppose foremost in this adventure that is my life has (aside from being occasionally time-shifted to 1880) been my romantic status (and probably my work status after that).

Well, last Friday, I broke up with Merritt. The next day, on a lark, Devon and I decided we were dating and we had some laughs and smiles. And there was the epic “spit swapping” experiment that ended without any significant negative consequences.

I’d say things have been slowing down ever since.

In Devon’s words it has been pleasant but frivolous. I feel like we can go forward having no regrets. It was fun. We laughed. We smiled. Then we assessed where we are and decided to more or less reset things.

At work yesterday, Devon’s name was drawn to receive tickets to the ballet for tomorrow night. The show is “Swan Lake” which I think is very fitting as a swan song date to bring our romantic relationships to a fine and gentle end.

We shall wake up Saturday with all options open. And… if we ever decide we’d like to actually try a relationship, we’ve done nothing to make that a problem.
