2024-11-03 “Sunday Together” by Merritt (born 1960)

Since moving into the apartments above the theater, Addison and Emma have taken on, as Emma so sweetly says “make up a nice breakfast” for everyone each day. Well, Devon and I have decided we’ll step up and take over breakfast on the weekends. After this morning, Hannah insisted she’ll be part of that gesture, too.

We had a good morning together and to be honest, the food wasn’t awful. I think the company was even better.

This afternoon, Hannah, Emma, and I are going to pile into Devon’s care and he’s going to drive us out of the city to a small, nearby park for the afternoon. Jacob and Addison are going to just hang out and clean up what’s left from Halloween decorations.

Last night, after working with Shan and Kent all day, Hannah and I went to a nice casual dining place for dinner. There’s not really anything special to report about that. As always, we had fun. It was relaxed and very comfortable.

However, something I ate didn’t sit well, so once we got back to the apartments, I had to visit the smallest room in the apartment to… collect my thoughts.

Before I got to the paperwork, Devon and Emma came in and I could hear them talking.

“I’m sorry I’m so boring,” Emma said.

“You’re not boring,” Devon replied. “We just weren’t doing anything, so I suggested we take a walk.”

“Okay…” Emma replied.

“You have your pepper spray?” Devon asked.

“Yeah, you got yours?”

“It’s in my jacket, so… yeah… now I have it…”

They left after that and I wrapped up what I was doing.

Our part of Brooklyn is relatively safe, but Kent has pointed out that there’s always a chance for trouble. We’ve been talking about it since we had to stop the lynching back in 1880, and have all decided to take classes on firearms and all get carry permits.

Since 1880 is definitely a potential for us, we’ll all learn about revolvers, of course… It just seems like a good idea, given that we never know what’s next.
