2024-10-23 “Checking In” by Emma (born 1861)

Well, I figured I ought t’ make a post jus’ to tell about how everything is going. I guess, b’sides Hannah an’ Shay being shifted, things are normal to a measure.

Hannah-1962 is just about the same to me as the normal Hannah I know, ‘cept she don’t know where things are very good. She seems real happy to be in 2024.

Shay-1857 is real nice, an’ trying real hard not to be worked up, but I tol’ her it was pro’lly okay to be, an’ that I was worked up a lot. I tol’ her just go slow and watch around her. She’s tol’ me that the plumbin’ and all the hot water you could want was ‘bout a miracle. I tol’ her I thought the same thing. Plus, heat and air-conditioning, but, it ain’t so hot in NYC any more.

I work the matinee today, so I jus’ put on this sweater for the picture. I barely got dry from my shower and from doing my hair, but you might know you think a lot when doing things like that, an’ I wanted to write about it for you.

Las’ night, Jacob come to the theater after the show an’ him and Addison went ‘cross the street to the coffee shop. They set there a long time, then come to the common room an’ set a long time more. Longer than me and Devon felt like setting there.

Devon an’ me said goodnight at the top o’ the stairs with a real sweet hug. I guess I outta say he’s real sweet and makes things real fun. We’re gettin’ on real good, I think.

Now, I wanna say something else. Kissing in 2024 don’t seem as private as it was in 1880. I kissed him on the cheek one time and he kissed my forehead back, but we ain’t been kissing the way a husband and wife woulda kissed if I hadn’t shifted. Truth is, it don’t seem like I need to be in a hurry to kiss him.

I ain’t saying that I don’t like being ‘round him. He likes it when I lean on him sitting on the sofa. I sat mostly in his lap a time or two in a chair supposed to be for one person.

I s’pose that’s all to say we’re getting on just fine and having fun.

I can’t say no more ‘cause IG won’t allow long stories, so thanks for reading what I wrote.
