To New York

2024-07-16 “To New York” by Merritt

Well, we made it to the airport. I checked with the apartment manager, and he said my furniture had been delivered. So I guess we are moving to Brooklyn.

We are here in plenty of time, but we want to get to the gate and just wait it out in order to avoid anything unexpected. It should be a routine travel day, as if anything is routine when you skip 40 years. Or 144 years. Or 27 years, for that matter.

I flew a few times in college, and I can tell you, travel in 2024 is extremely different. They tell me the big change came in 2001, after September 11. And I understand that.

Life in New York is going to be different, even if I was actually born in the year 2000 like my drivers license says. New York is very different from Atlanta, especially suburban Atlanta. New York state is different from Georgia. And Mississippi. And Canada.

All three of us will have a lot of adjusting to do.

But, I think if we stick with each other, it will be fine. And maybe it will be fun, too.

I’m looking forward to finding out.
