2024-07-11 “I’m Actually Working” by Merritt
I'm actually working. I know it might not look like it, but I’m working right now. Well, volunteering for @king_james_ai Jame King who is up to his ears in getting the festival ready.
I’m looking for Ailana Geven to pick up something called a prepaid VISA she has for James to pay for festival stuff. She and Sasha headed down the beach. I don’t know exactly what a content creator does, but it seems like Ailana has an endless supply of money at her disposal.
So, this little walk has given me time to think a bit about what’s happened since time-shifting to 2024.
Here I am in the middle of it with Jenn and Emma. Emma pointed out that we need to stick together; whatever caused the time-shift sort of metaphysically connected us. She believes—and I agree—that there must be some reason behind all this, and we ought not go our separate ways until we know more. To that end, we’ve decided they will go to New York with me where I have a job waiting.
Dad’s been texting me pictures of the place he arranged. It’s nice and roomy, with one bedroom the girls will share. I’ll get a hide-a-bed couch that isn’t called that anymore; a sleeper sofa.
Since we reached Miami, Jenn has kept busy. Seems since she knew about the trip a long time before me, she had some things planned in advance.
Emma and I have stayed plenty busy. We went to a grocery store last night and both got dumbfounded by the bananas. Hear me out…
There were two kinds. Bananas and organic bananas. Now, by my way of thinking, a banana is a fruit that grows on a plant that grows in the ground. ALL of that sounds organic to me!
Emma and I tried Googling it, and it helped, but it was also confusing. I saw an ad for an “organic friendly skillet", which was made of aluminum coated with something called SilverSlick. Nevermind that…
After all we could stand to read on Google, Emma said, “I s’pose it's not the banana, but all what gets put on the banana when it’s growing.”
I’d like to know, at a molecular level, if there’s really any difference in the actual cells I put in my mouth?
