Home Run

2024-07-07 “Home Run” by Merritt

Well, the baseball game turned out to be a huge home run as far as fun goes. I don’t know… Something about it seemed timeless enough that we all felt comfortable, even in the crowded stadium.

Notably, Emma said she had never seen so many people in one place at one time. I told her I hadn’t either, since the last time I was at a game, and that had been years ago by my counting… back in 1980 when Tommy Boggs was pitching.

Also, it would have never occurred to me that Emma would have never had a hotdog… So… I’ve figured out a few things about my iPhone and I was able to look up when hotdogs became popular in the US. They showed up in 1893 at the Chicago Colombian Exposition.

I saw a beer vendor, and somehow, that reminded me that we had found Emma’s ID. Back in Vancouver, I checked my ID and it showed that I was born in 2000. Emma had a Mississippi Drivers License that claimed she was born in 2005.

I was reminded that it also—had a home address listed. I had to wonder who lived there and what the situation would be. I suppose that’s going to be something for the future to-do list.

Meanwhile the home team took the game 5-1 behind the arm of a rookie pitcher. That was nice to see, and I knew dad would be happy.

I don’t know where all this is going, but so far the ride has been nice. The company, even better.

I’ll try to keep you posted on what happens as I go along.
