Merritt, Kent, Emma, and Hannah sat across a little table in a Brooklyn cafe looking at Paul Charm. They were all trying not to laugh.
Finally Kent said what they were all thinking. “This is a joke, right?”
Paul raised his hands and shook his head. “The Agency Translocated me here to give you instructions and make sure you were ready to go… You should have gotten pagers?”
Merritt nodded. “Came in the mail. Text-based… That’s why we’re here… we got notes… Paul… seriously? This mission… This has to be a joke, right? Like some test flight? Just making sure the pagers worked?”
Paul shook his head and held and held up his hands. “I got a message on my iPhone that I’d Translocate this morning. And, they communicated in my dream last night… They said they’d Translocate me this time just to make sure you’d be ready to go.”
Hannah closed her eyes and looked down. “We can’t keep our jobs if this happens very much.”
Paul looked down. “The Agency will take care of your financial needs.”
Merritt nodded. “Yeah, I got my bank statement… Is that going to be normal?”
Paul nodded. “And Tom is getting paid for putting you up in your apartment.”
Merritt nodded. The four of them were sharing a nice place over the theatrical storage building. It had a large open-floor plan living room, dining, and kitchen area that separated two large bedrooms, each with nice closets and a master-suite style bathroom. There was another ½ bath in the main area for guests.
Emma looked at Paul. “So this is it… we quit our jobs and bounce around through time doing good deeds or whatever pops up on these pagers… That’s it?”
Paul nodded. “And Will Robertson is in the loop to take care of anything that comes up when your bodies are… elsewhere…”
Kent held up his hands. “Okay… let’s just go with all that… But, this mission has to be a joke…”
Paul shrugged. “It’s what it is…”
Hannah finally laughed. “It’s a fairy tale!”
Kent  laughed with her. “So, we are going back in time to save a princess… Will there be dragons, too?”
