Well, I had a hard time going to sleep, and I woke up a li’le upset. Something’s happening to us time-travelers. Hannah said she wuddn’t gonna post about it until she knew more—she had some interesting thoughts from last night, but she didn’t make a post.
Here’s what happened last night after dinner. Me an’ Merritt were sitting on one couch an’ Jacob and Addison were on the other.
Well, I said to Merritt, “We oughta watch that movie, Serenity again.”
“What movie is that?”
“The sequel to the Firefly series.”
Merritt shook his head. “I don’t remember watching it.”
Jacob spoke up. “When did you learn about Firefly?”
I quickly answered. “There was a Firefly party at school. Some kids were big fans.”
Jacob looked past me at Merritt. I looked at Merritt. Merritt looked at me.
“Emma…” he said, “did you shift?”
I shook my head. “What?”
Jacob spoke up. “Emma I was at that party, too. It was in 2020. Emma, you must have shifted?”
“No,” I said, “‘cause I can still remember when the slaves got freed and my daddy had to leave the plantation job, ‘cause he wasn’t needed. That’s when we became sharecroppers. I was a little kid.”
Jacob looked at Merritt. “Tell us about when you went to Memphis to work on the sewers…”
Merritt’s face went blank. “I… was sitting on the train…”
Now just then, Jacob got a crazy look and turned to Addison. “I can do Morse code.”
Addison looked at him and he added, “And 92 Code. I’ve been trying to learn… now…”
Well, long and short of it, when we stopped to think about it, all of us had some memories from the other versions of us.
Now, you should know Addison refused to talk about some of the memories she had from the Addison in 1880, what with him being a man!
When we got to sorting things out, come to find out, we’ve been mixing our memories little by little over the last few weeks. There were a lot of big surprises, too, but I can’t tell them all this time.
An’ I s’pose you can guess, but I’m a little scared. I don’t even have a guess what’s gonna happen next!
