It had taken a bit of convincing, but in the end, Merritt's mother and father and Emma’s Father joined them in Memphis to witness their marital union.
Merritt’s errand on the previous Friday had led to him kneeling before Emma who had said “yes” before he got to the question. Phone calling commenced immediately.
Emma’s father (her mother had passed away) agreed with little convincing. Merritt’s father took a little more time.
“Dad, you’ve accused me of being the least impulsive person in history. Trust me on this.”
Merritt’s mother had a wedding dress that was big enough for Emma to wear and small enough to not look oversized. Everything was in order well before the day.
So it was that a little while after 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11, 1984, Emma Knox married Merritt Gray.
To be slightly more precise and drastically less romantic, a VERSION of Emma Knox that had time-split from the version of herself born in 1965 married a VERSION of Merritt Gray that had, likewise, time-split form the version of himself born in 1960.
But, they had agreed that they’d not worry about time-shifting or time-splitting or versions or divisions or anything else.
They had a life together to plan.
