It is Saturday and Emma has to work the matinee show at the theater, but that didn’t stop us from having a nice morning together. After we all got back to the apartments last night (Merritt and I had dinner, then went to pick her up—Devon met us there to wait for Emma.), we hung out for a while, then Emma and I came to her apartment.
Let’s not call it a slumber party. That rings too much like middle school! Or something. I inflated one of the air mattresses, so I had a decent place to sleep.
We talked until late. Mostly, about life in 1880 and how hard it must be on the time-travelers who got sent back there. We also discussed that post that was hacked to our pages that talked about their social arrangement. It was titled “Out Of Time.” I think we agreed that it made sense for them. I’ll leave it there.
I’ll get this post wrapped up by mentioning that dinner with Merritt last night was very nice. It was so relaxed. If we call it a 2nd date or even 3rd date (who’s counting?), it was by far the most relaxed 2nd or 3rd date I have ever had. Chalk it up to the intense connection we have? Or the extended period of friendship that has come before? For whatever reason, it was very nice with no pressure or tension.
We talked mostly about work, then about the idea that we need to be doing good deeds. Merritt told me about their visit to Florida, and suggested we might find a Habitat For Humanity office around here and do some work for them. I thought that sounded good.
Shortly after the picture was taken, Emma pulled on a t-shirt and some jeans while I took a shower and got dressed. She said it didn’t much matter what she put on; she’d have a costume waiting and there was a stylist who’d help her get her hair looking right for the show.
I’ll hang out with the guys while she works and we’ll all go for pizza or something tonight when she gets off.
Honestly, I can’t imagine a better way to spend Saturday.
