2024-09-01 “Break In The Clouds” by Emma

You can see in my picture, there ‘as a little break in the clouds when took it. But I made the post title to mean something else, too.

All this time travel an’ relationship fuss has had my thinking cloudy, but all this time camping, I got an idea about it all.

First, ‘bout the time travel. There ain’t nothing I can do ‘bout it, an’ if whatever power brung us here wants us to do good deeds, that’s fine by me. I’ve made better friends ‘an I’d ever have made in 1880, and life is a lot easier, so I’m gonna be grateful. 

Now, ‘bout the matters of romance. I sure wish I hadn’t talked bad about being with Merritt, ‘cause now he’s just not thinking ‘bout romance at all, to hear him tell it. But, next time me an’ him are alone, I’m gonna say I wish I hadn’t said nothing about being forced. You can read my old posts an’ see about all that.

On the other hand, I like Hannah like a sister, and she thinks she’d like to find out if Merritt could be a good husband kind of man. I don’t want to do anything t’ make her sad, but I still am gonna tell Merritt my thoughts.

An’ if I had three hands, Devon would be on the other ‘ne. There's somethin’ ‘bout a nice handsome boy showing me interest that makes me interested back. I ain’t trying to lead him on false, but I don’t mind sitting an’ talking to him.

So, here’s what I think. What’s meant to be will be. That ain’t cloudy, but it ain’t definite either. I wish I knew what was meant to be, to tell you the truth, so I could stop worrying. 

Now, just to make things more complicated, Addison, my boss called and asked where I was. I thought I was s’posed to be at work but she was just being friendly. I tol’ her about us all camping.

“Oh,” she said, “that’s not far. I’d like to spend some time with you and Merritt. You think it would be okay if I drive down for tonight?”

I asked the others. Merritt shrugged and nodded. Hannah rolled her eyes and didn’t say nothing.

Devon spoke up. “The more the merrier! Tell her to bring an air mattress!”

So I did. I guess she’ll get her this afternoon..
