What Comes After Crazy?

2024-07-01  “What Comes After Crazy?” by  Merritt

WHAT COMES AFTER CRAZY?—I’m sitting here in Vancouver trying to figure things out. On Friday, I was driving my Toyota down a road outside Atlanta and got caught up in some crazy yellow and green sparkly cloud and ended up in Vancouver. Oh, yeah, and 40 years had passed. And, oh yeah, I’m still 24.

Oh, and yeah… My parents somehow got pulled into 2024 with me.

Then, I was walking around on Saturday and felt like I HAD to go to this dance club I never heard of. And while I was there, there was a woman named @timetravelerjenn1997 Jenn that I HAD to go try and talk to. It was as if I was utterly compelled to embarrass myself.

Turns out, the next day, she was equally compelled to text me—I had to learn what that means, by the way—and yesterday we met for coffee. Instantly, there was some connection. I’m not talking about infatuation or something. It was like… metaphysical.

And, hang on… Turns out SHE isn’t from 2024 either. 1997. She’s been in 2024 for a while now, and has sort of embraced the fact. But we both felt some sort of connection. My theory is that we both traveled time and ended up here and whatever caused that also has caused the connection.

I have so many questions. I’ve talked to my parents and they are clueless that anything is different, as far as I can tell.

But the biggest question—one that they could not shed any light on—is why in this 2024 paradigm would I ever think it was a good idea to drive my car—which is now a Honda, by the way—from Atlanta to Vancouver! It’s 2800 miles. At 500 miles a day, it will take me a week to get back… is it even my home anymore?

But, Jenn and her friend @ailana.geven Ailana Geven are planning on going to Miami for a thing, and… Well, I feel like I need to go, too. Jenn, being a time traveler like me, is someone I want to stick with. Plus, she was good company, too.

So, I’m packing up and hitting the road in the morning.  I’ll see if I can do about 600 miles a day…
